Meet Your Teacher
Hi. I'm Mrs. Krygsheld, the Lansing Christian Junior High math teacher since 2004 and grammar teacher since 2010.
Before becoming an LCS junior high teacher, I taught as a substitute and in the Resource Room/Special Education department here at LCS.
I have a B.A. in mathematics for secondary education (along with a minor in English) from Trinity Christian College, where I also taught for three years as "Visiting Instructor of Mathematics" before becoming a mom. I am married and have two grown, married kids and two grandchildren.
I love my job! Working with Junior High students is a great privilege and always interesting, and I just love to see the look on a student's face when something "clicks!"
My other "life" was working in garden centers for many years -- I've got lots of plants at home!

Here are the Linux tips I added to the old laptops:
TO UPDATE SYSTEM: Every couple of weeks or so (or at least whenever you will be using this laptop), update the software for Linux Xubuntu: Press CTRL+ALT+T to open a terminal. After the $ sign, type sudo apt-get update Press ENTER. Type rs3660 for password (this will remain invisible). When it finishes with the update, type sudo apt-get upgrade Press ENTER, and type "y" and press ENTER when asked if you want to continue. This will keep the system up-to-date. TO USE DVD PLAYER: Open SMPlayer from desktop and play the disc (if "Parole Media Player" tries to open, just close it). You may need an adapter to connect to your projector, depending on what kind of connection you currently have. TO ADD SMPLAYER to a computer that has Xubuntu Linux but does not already have SMPlayer, follow these steps: CTRL+ALT+T to open a terminal. Then type sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rvm/smplayer Press ENTER to continue (enter invisible password, as needed). Then type sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install smplayer smtube smplayer-themes If there is a problem with the sound (test with a DVD), type sudo apt install zstd wget http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/linux/archlinux/extra/os/x86_64//sof-firmware-1.4.2-1-any.pkg.tar.zst tar -I zstd -xvf sof-firmware-1.4.2-1-any.pkg.tar.zst sudo cp ~/usr/lib/firmware/intel/sof/*.ri /lib/firmware/intel/sof Double check that sound is on (top bar next to date); if it is but you still don’t hear anything, try plugging in an external speaker and then remove it, and sound may be functional. |
